Solar energy with SDE+ subsidy for OMO schools

In 2018 and 2019, schools affiliated with Stichting Ons Middelbaar Onderwijs (OMO) were equipped with solar. With the benefits of the SDE+ subsidy and a cooperative purchase program, these schools got the opportunity to make their buildings much more sustainable. Solar power makes their energy usage greener and they can teach their students about solar and the need for the world to become more sustainable.
Autarco is involved in nine of these schools together with a selection of qualified local installers. Our engineers developed the solar panel layouts using the power of our Helios design software and its accurate calculations to optimise yields. Not only were the available roof space and surrounding obstacles important, in some cases the structural integrity of the buildings and the condition of the roofing appeared to play a decisive role in designing the systems. When all nine projects are completed, a total of 1 MWp of Autarco solar panels will be installed. The Fioretti College in Veghel tops the list with more than 300 kWp.
The project
Where possible the AC side of the installations were fulfilled by companies already working for the schools. These activities take place within the building, where the connection between the solar inverters and the existing electrical installations is made. Working with installers that already know the buildings and all installations within it is a huge advantage.

All installed solar energy systems are made fully with Autarco products and therefore come with an insured kWh guarantee for a duration of fifteen years. Combined with a proper O&M contract the schools are certain of the system’s performance for the entire SDE+ subsidy period. This means the schools are fully taken care of and that their investments are secured.
Educational value of solar energy
To also get the students involved in the project, lessons will take place covering the subject of solar energy. Also, monitors are installed to continuously show a custom made presentation. This does not only show the actual performance of the PV system, it also translates these values into practical examples. In terms of kWh, charging your smartphone or driving a Tesla are easier to understand than just numbers alone.
